New Delhi: The Maruti Dzire stands as the number one car in the Indian sedan segment. Since its launch, it has achieved a sales milestone of 3 million units. Following the Dzire, the Aura has emerged as the second most successful sedan in the market. In fact, this car has crossed the 300,000-unit sales mark in the market.

What is the position of Maruti Dzire in Indian market?

The Maruti Dzire stands as the number one car in the Indian sedan segment. Since its launch, it has achieved a sales milestone of 3 million units. Following the Dzire, the Aura has emerged as the second most successful sedan in the market. In fact, this car has crossed the 300,000-unit sales mark in the market. Moreover, it is also the second best-selling car in the sedan segment for the financial year 2026. In February 2026, 6,733 units of the Aura were dispatched from the factory—a 40% increase compared to the same period last year (YoY). In February 2025, this figure stood at 4,797 units.

Since its launch in January 2020, the cumulative sales of this entry-level sedan in the Indian market have reached 302,365 units. Hyundai Motor India, the country's second-largest passenger vehicle exporter, has also shipped 144,199 units of the vehicle to international markets as of the end of January 2026. Consequently, the combined total sales figure for the Aura—encompassing both domestic and export markets—has reached 446,564 units.

What about the Aura?

The Aura has recorded its highest-ever wholesale sales figures during the current financial year. The figures for March 2026 are yet to be added to this total. In the first 11 months of the financial year 2026, Hyundai India dispatched 61,403 Aura sedans to its dealers and showrooms. This represents a robust 23% year-over-year (YoY) growth compared to the same period last year; between April 2024 and February 2025, 49,871 units were sold.

The primary catalyst driving the surge in sales—for the Aura as well as the entire passenger vehicle segment—has been GST 2.0. Consequently, prices witnessed a significant reduction starting from the end of September 2025. Price cuts ranged from ₹55,780 for the base variant to ₹71,367 for the top-end variant. The ex-showroom price of the Aura starts at ₹600,000 for the base Petrol E MT variant, while it goes up to ₹854,000 for the top-tier CNG SX MT variant. One of the reasons behind the higher sales figures in January 2026 was the launch of the Aura Prime SD, a model specifically designed to cater to the fleet and taxi operator market.
